Mary Chase’s disarmingly humane and heart-warming comedy about a gentle soul and his invisible  rabbit friend Harvey won a Pulitzer Prize in 1945 and achieved iconic status through the subsequent Hollywood movie starring James Stewart.

Elwood P. Dowd is a supremely kind and affable gentleman, who wishes for nothing more than to be everybody’s friend. His best friend however – whom he is always very proud to introduce to everyone – is Harvey, an invisible six-foot-tall rabbit, who claims to be a Pooka, an Irish spirit. Although Veta loves her mild-mannered brother dearly, as Elwood’s eccentric behaviour increasingly disrupts her search for a suitable son-in-law, she decides to have him committed to a sanitarium. But when the frantic and troubled Veta is mistakenly committed herself, a hilarious comedy of errors ensues, which perhaps could have been orchestrated by a slightly mischevious Pooka....?  In the end - who’s to say what’s “normal”?
