Looukmaan is an original cast member of
KAT AND THE KINGS as well as one of the choreographers. He won an Olivier Award in 1999 when he performed the role of Bingo in the West End production of
KAT AND THE KINGS and went on to perform the role on Broadway. He was also nominated for an Olivier Award in the same year for his choreographic contribution to the musical. In South Africa he has won an
FNB Vita Award for his role of Bingo in
KAT AND THE KINGS. During the past year he has performed the lead role of Cassiem Allie in a new production of Kramer and Petersen’s first musical,
DISTRICT SIX, which was staged at the Baxter Theatre in Cape Town. Loukmaan’s professional stage career started as a child when he was cast in the first production of
DISTRICT SIX in 1987, where he played the role of the child newspaper vendor. During the past year he produced a CD of the boyband
JAG and most recently performed in a television sitcom
ALIE BARBER, which has just completed a second series on cable television in South Africa.
