Emraan has been singinq in his father’s Malay Choir group since he was a little boy. For five consecutive years he won first prize for lead comic singer in a competition which takes place annually in Cape Town. In 1995, he represented South Africa at a dance festival in Malaysia and has also sung at a concert in aid of UNICEF ln Japan. He joined the production of KAT AND THE KINGS when it toured South Africa in 1997 and performed the role of Magoo in the German and Dutch productions. He played the lead role of Sophia, the transexual, in the new production of the Kramer/Petersen musical DISTRICT SIX. He launched the boy band JAG in 2001 and recently toured with them. He has a lead role in the Afrikaans sitcom ALIE BARBER, currently being shown on South African television.
