Synopsis

The Unfriend is a sharp and satirical comedy that gleefully exposes middle-class England’s obsession with politeness and good manners. First performed in 2022, it transferred to London’s West End to much acclaim in 2023. Its award-winning writer Steven Moffat gained international recognition for television series, such as, Doctor Who, Sherlock and Dracula.

British couple, Peter and Debbie, are enjoying a cruise and a much-needed break from parenting their bratty teenagers. They befriend fellow passenger Elsa, a brash American widow with strong Republican views. There’s something slightly unsettling in her overeager friendliness... but there’s no point rocking the boat if you will soon disembark.

When Elsa shows up at their door with suitcases a few months later, a quick Google search reveals she has a dark, possibly criminal past, and a hilarious comedy of manners ensues. Sometimes, saying the truth is just too impolite – even if your life is at risk!
