Lawrence Evans
Movement Director
Lawrence works as a movement director, actor, director, and acting teacher. Nominated for an Olivier Award for his work with Tony Harrison at the National Theatre, he has worked with the poet as a movement director and actor on all his site-specific theatre pieces. He received a best actor award from the Liverpool Newspapers Arts awards and has worked at many of the regional Repertory Theatres throughout the UK, as well as the National Theatre, NT Studio, Cheek by Jowl, the Young Vic, and Northern Broadsides.
Directing work includes The Soldier’s Tale with the orchestra of the Academy of St Martin in the Fields, A Midsummer Night’s Dream with the Irish Chamber Orchestra and Storytellers Theatre Company and as an Associate Director at Theatre Centre.
As a Movement Director his work includes the National Theatre, National Educational Dept (Touring), Hampstead Theatre, Bristol Old Vic, Tamasha Theatre Company, Unicorn Theatre and Chalkfoot Productions.
His teaching credits include RADA, Drama Centre, Central School Speech & Drama and LAMDA where he has recently finished directing two Shakespeare projects. His co-written play Lives Worth Living is published by Heinemann Educational. This is his seventh production at Vienna’s English Theatre as a Movement Director.
