Director
After finishing a degree in the Honors Program from St. Edward’s University in the U.S., Brook worked as a performer, director, choreographer, and producer regionally around the U.S., New York, and Asia.
In 2012, Brook founded Butterfly Effect Theatre in Taipei, Taiwan. He has since transplanted it to Vienna as a Kulturverein where he serves as the Artistic Director. In Vienna, he produced A Game for Kultursommer in 2023. Other directing and producing credits include the world Chinese-Language premiere of Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Anything Goes (for the National Theatre of Taiwan), Tape, A Perfect Ganesh, Santaland Diaries, All in the Timing, Tuesdays with Morrie, Smokey Joes Cafe, Wait Until Dark, God of Carnage, Sylvia, The Bombitty-of-Errors, and regional tours of Title of Show and The Diary of Anne Frank.
He was the Choreographer for V.E.T.’s productions of Next to Normal, (Nominated for Best Musical, Broadway World, Austria), Tuesdays with Morrie, and The Children. He has also delivered many choreographic projects for international feature films, television, commercials, special events and concert tours.
For VETA, he has directed Noises Off, The Foreigner, Murder on the Orient Express, The Rainmaker, and Animal Farm. In 2022-23, he also served as Head of both the VETA Movement Department and their Acting Foundation Programme.
He has worked as a guest artist around the world including Beijing, Shanghai, KaohShiung, Taipei, ShenYang, Macau, Riga, Sevilla, and Pondicherri, but he currently calls Vienna home and happily teaches screen acting classes with OnCamera_vienna and leads a group of 1,500 local filmmakers and film enthusiasts.
