Erika Navas

Erika was born in Mexico City 1959, and moved to Vienna in 1965, where she studied costume design at the Hochschule für Angewandte Kunst.

During her studies she worked as Assistant Costume Designer for several film productions and, since graduating in 1985, has been working as a freelance Costume Designer for theatres, film productions and commercials. She also specialises in the research and design of historical costumes and patterns.

Erika has designed costumes for productions at the Burgtheater, Theater in der Josefstadt, Volkstheater, Volksoper, Festspiele Reichenau, Landestheater Innsbruck and for Stadttheater St. Gallen / Schweiz, Schloßparktheater Berlin. For Vienna’s English Theatre she has previously designed God of Carnage.

She has worked as a costume designer with film directors such as Michael Haneke (Bennys Video), Thomas Roth (Falco, Trautmann), Harald Sicheritz (Hinterholz 8), Reinhard Schwabenitzky (Ein fast perfekter Seitensprung), Paulus Manker (Weinigers Nacht) amongst others.

Erika’s design credits for TV include Kommissar Rex, Medicopter, Tatort, Die Landärztin, Julia and many others.
