Theatre Nuffield Logo The Nuffield’s work takes place not just on stage, in the street, in schools, but in the head and in the heart. lt is characterised by variety, inventiveness, imagination and skill. Under the leadership of Artistic Director, Patrick Sandford and Executive Director, Kate Anderson, the company produces, tours, collaborates, commissions, presents visiting companies, and plays a leading rote in the cultural regeneration of Southampton.

The Nuffield works in partnership with a range of artists and companies from the UK and abroad, including Crying Out Loud, Schtanhaus, Headlong and ZEPA, a partnership of four French and five English outdoor arts companies. The Nuffield is a founder member of Art at the Heart, Southampton’s City animation/audience development project, and is the host organisation for Apples & Snakes South East, Hampshire Youth Theatre, and the South England venue for RSC’s Open Stages.

Development and learning are at the heart of The Nuffield’s ethos and the company’s acclaimed Writers Group spearheads its prolific artist development, education and community programme, through which it supports the development of directors, actors and creative producers, as well as giving creative learning opportunities within the local community.
