Jonathan is pleased to be making his debut at Vienna’s English Theatre. Jonathan is currently artistic director of Ensemble Theatre Company in Santa Barbara, California. Prior to that, he was artistic director of Two River Theater Company in New Jersey, where he directed over a dozen acclaimed productions, including The Tragedy of Carmen, Old Wicked Songs, Visiting Mr. Green (all three with Aaron Serotsky), Machinal, Abigail’s Party, and La Bête.
His recent production of The Umbrellas of Cherbourg was profiled in American Theatre Magazine. His directing work has received critical acclaim in The New York Times, Variety, and other publications. In April 2006, his production of Visiting Mr. Green played at the English Theatre of Frankfurt.
His directing work has been seen in San Francisco, New York, Philadelphia, and Germany, including the premiere of Mud by Maria Irene Fornes at the Horizont Theater in Cologne.
He received his MFA from Columbia University, and is a recipient of a fellowship from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. In May, he was an American delegate to ITI’s World Theatre Congress in Manila.
