SYNOPSIS
This devastatingly funny play follows a day in the life of Sam Peliczowski, an out-of-work actor who mans the red-hot reservation line at Manhattan’s number-one restaurant. While the rich and famous are upstairs dining on the trendiest and most inventive dishes, wines and desserts, Sam is downstairs in the basement, dealing with as many as six phone lines at a time as people fight for a reservation at the restaurant (which is “fully committed” up to three months in advance). He deals with socialites, wannabes and celebrities, ranging from the ‘annoying’ to ‘24-carat evil’, and all of them are desperate – coercion, threats, bribes, tantrums – they will stop at nothing in their zeal to book a table. In addition Sam also seems to be bullied by the entire staff, who all appear to be in dire need of therapy. Fully Committed has a cast of forty wildly diverse characters designed to be played by a single, very versatile performer.
Becky Mode´s script has created a fantastic universe full of PR people and their masters, like creatures out of Hieronymus Bosch. x The script is fast and furious. Fully Committed is a joy of a show. David Herman (Online Review, Lonson)
