Michael Evan Haney
Michael Haney’s directing credits include The Syringa Tree (2003), Proof (2003), A Christmas Carol (1993-2003), The Mystery of Irma Vep (2001), The Last Night of Ballyhoo (2000), all at the Cincinnati Playhouse where he is currently the Associate Artistic Director. Regional credits include Blue/Orange, Underneath the Lintel and Bed Among the Lintels, Syncopation, The Countess and Private Eyes, Ensemble Theatre of Cincinnati; The Mystery of Irma Vep, Meadow Brook Theatre; The Machine with Ed Asner, Mark Taper Forum and Asolo Theatre Company; Comedy of Errors and Mr. Rickey Calls a Meeting, Sacramento Theatre Company; Monument Boulevard, Missouri Repertory Theatre; The Potting Shed, Washington Stage Guild; Comedy of Errors, Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival; Charley’s Aunt, Wayside Theatre; King of Dominoes, Passage Theatre; Sylvia and Camping with Henry and Tom, Weathervane Playhouse; Trip to Bountiful, Round and Round the Garden and More Fun Than Bowling, John Michael Kohler Arts Center; Scotland Road, Pacific Resident Theatre, Dramalogue Award for direction. He directed both the stage and the video versions of As the Wind Rocks the Wagon, a one-woman show written and performed by his wife Amy Warner in more than 100 venues including Lincoln Center Theater and The National Archives; Playwrights Theatre of New Jersey; Worcester Foothills Theatre. Michael has also directed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
As Artistic Director of Allenberry Playhouse he produced more than 30 plays including Bus Stop, Shirley Valentine, Love Letters with Shirley Jones, Crimes of the Heart, The Secret Garden and Gypsy.
Michael’s acting credits include A Christmas Carol at the Cincinnati Playhouse (1991, 1992); Zalmen: or The Madness of God on Broadway; The Jail Diary of Albee Sachs, Manhattan Theatre Club; Return to the River, Theatre Four and The Devils, The Direct Theatre (all Off-Broadway). He has performed in numerous regional theatres such as Arena Stage, Center Stage, Great Lakes Theatre Festival, Missouri Repertory Theatre, Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, George Street Playhouse, Crossroads Theatre Company, Provincetown Playhouse, Pennsylvania Stage Company, Olney Theatre Center, American Stage Festival, Geffen Playhouse. Michael has also worked at The Moscow Art Theatre, The Pushkin Theatre (Leningrad) and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
