Mark Elstob

Mark was born in Sunderland and trained at the Central School of Speech and Drama in London. He has worked all over the UK as well as Vienna, Lisbon, Berlin, Athens, Frankfurt, Dubrovnik and Jerusalem. 

His theatre work includes The Master and Margarita, Venus and Adonis, Twelfth Night, Romeo and Juliet, Henry IV Part One, The Three Musketeers, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Charley’s Aunt, Macbeth, Monarch of the Glen, Measure for Measure, When We Fell in Love, An Ideal Husband at the Old Vic, and Hamlet (both directed by Sir Peter Hall), Salome (directed by Steven Berkoff), Noises Off, The Importance of Being Earnest, Neville’s Island, The Power of Yes at the National Theatre, The Browning Version and South Downs in the West End, and several seasons in Pitlochry including Present Laughter, Hello Dolly, The Lady in the Van, Pyrenees, Chicago, This Happy Breed, and Travesties. 

His TV and film appearances include A Hazard of Hearts, The Monk, Lady Jane (directed by Trevor Nunn), Eastenders, The Bill, Peak Practice, Gory Greek Gods, Inspector George Gently, Doctors, and Emmerdale, playing the regular role of Andrew Fraser. 

Mark has extensive audio experience, being a longtime reader of Talking Books for the RNIB, recording very many commercial audiobooks and appearing in a variety of audio dramas for Big Finish Productions, including Doctor Who, Torchwoodand The Prisoner (as Number Six).

Mark’s previous appearances at Vienna’s English Theatre include Lend Me a Tenor, Venus in Fur, Private Lives, Educating Rita, Murder by Misadventure, and America’s Sexiest Couple.
