Deborah Charles

Movement Director

Deborah trained at Arts Ed. in London and upon graduating joined the Paris based Briac Ballet Company touring Europe, the Far East and the Emirates. Returning to London she worked as a freelance dancer where her TV credits included Top of the Pops, The Brit Awards, the BBC series Bluebell about the Bluebell Girls, Gems – a popular daytime soap for ITV, and a series of videos and films that included The Pirates of Penzance (the D’Oyly Carte Company) for Brent Walker films.

Deborah has enjoyed the last thirty years teaching and choreographing in London where favourite credits include the operas The Bacchae at English National Opera as assistant to Matthew Hamilton, and The Flying Dutchman directed by Richard Jones.

She has taught both in theatre schools and her own private studio, where students have ranged from three-year-olds to professional dancers, as well as her private dance classes for singers and actors – including the singer Will Young and the actor Ralph Fiennes.  She especially loves choreographing jazz and contemporary pieces for schools and first wedding dances.

Deborah is thrilled to be involved with this exciting production of The Effect and working with director Adrienne Ferguson.
