STONE COLD MURDER
A thriller by James Cawood
James Cawood
James was born in Newcastle upon Tyne, educated in Scotland and trained as an actor at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.
As an actor he toured extensively around the UK with various productions including; JB Priestley’s
Dangerous Corner, the classic British farce
Sailor, Beware,
Dennis Potter’s
Blue Remembered Hills and the PG Wodehouse comedy
Come On, Jeeves.
For Vienna’s English Theatre he has appeared in
Charley’s Aunt in 2008,
Out of Order in 2009 and
The Importance of Being Earnest in 2010.
As a writer James’ first play
The Jeffersons received a rehearsed reading at the Bristol Old Vic Studio and his second play
Echoes of the Grain was shortlisted for the International Playwriting Festival Award. His short play
Unrequited was performed at the Old Red Lion Theatre, London.
He is a huge fan of Alfred Hitchcock and classic 70’s horror movies and no doubt it was this combination that inspired him to write
Stone Cold Murder. It was whilst he was performing in Vienna, trying to save money and stay indoors that he spent the days writing the play, so it is perfect that it should be performed for the first time in the same city. He is delighted and honoured that his play is receiving its world premiere in Vienna, a city and a theatre very close to his heart.
