Alistair Beaton is one of Britain’s leading satirical writers, with credits in theatre, books, and television.

His political comedy Feelgo od won the Evening Standard Award for Best Comedy in 2001 as well as an Olivier Award nomination. It has since had successful runs in Germany, Denmark, Hungary and Portugal. His other theatre credits include The Nose and new translations of Die Fledermaus and La Vie Parisienne for the D’Oyly Carte Company. With Ned Sherrin he wrote The Ratepayers’ Iolanthe (Olivier Award winner) and The Metropolitan Mikado.  His satire on the Iraq war Follow My Leader ran at the Birmingham Rep and the Hampstead Theatre in 2004. In 2005, his new version of Gogol’s Government Inspector opens at the Chichester Festival Theatre.

Alistair Beaton is author of the satirical novel A Planet For the President, published by Weidenfeld in 2004. He is also responsible for the best-selling Little Book of Complete Bollocks, Little Book of Management Bollocks, and Little Book of New Labour Bollocks. With Andy Hamilton he wrote Drop the Dead Donkey 2000 and The Thatcher Papers.
His television credits include: Minder, Not the Nine O’Clock News, Spitting Image and the sitcom Downwardly Mobile.  His screenplays for television include Incident on the Line (Channel 4, with Warren Mitchell, Alexandra Pigg) The Way The Truth The Video (Channel 4, with Ian Bannen, Peter Firth, Annette Crosbie) and Mit Fünfzig küssen Männer anders (ARD, directed by Margarethe von Trotta).

Alistair Beaton was educated at the Universities of Edinburgh, Moscow and Bochum, graduating from Edinburgh University with First Class Hons. in Russian and German.
