Robert Traynor is a graduate of both Guildhall School of Music and Drama and the Birmingham Conservatoire. He is a versatile performer having played roles in musicals, plays and operetta (and the occasional opera too!).

Most recently, he was in the cast for the premiere of Lend Me a Tenor – the Musical at the Gielgud Theatre in London’s West End. Other musical roles include R.F.Simpson in Singin’ in the Rain (national tour), Boris the Spy in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (London Palladium and tour), Ghost of Christmas Present in Scrooge (national tour), Emile de Becque in South Pacific (national tour) and Judge Turpin in Sweeney Todd (Courtyard Theatre Hereford).

As an actor, roles include Dr Van Helsing in Dracula, Frank in Equus, Canon Throbbing in Habeas Corpus, Ghost/Player King in Hamlet and the Prince in Romeo and Juliet.

No stranger to operetta, he worked extensively with the D’Oyly Carte Opera Company on several tours and London seasons at the Cambridge and Savoy Theatres. Roles include Pooh Bah in The Mikado, Pirate King in The Pirates of Penzance, Sergeant Merryl in The Yeomen of the Guard and Private Willis in Iolanthe. He also has the distinction of having played both Dr Falke and Colonel Frank in Die Fledermaus, though not at the same time.

Robert is delighted to be making his debut at Vienna’s English Theatre and is looking forward to the fun of Rough Crossing.
