Xena Bassel
Xena grew up in Cairo, Egypt and Vienna, Austria, and has spent most of her life involved in various forms of performing arts as a trilingual performer (English, German, Arabic). Having just completed a six-month tour performing Roxie & Cy (playing Roxie) for audiences in Austria, Italy, Germany, and Hungary, she is delighted to return to Vienna for Pride and Prejudice* (*sort of).
Before going on tour, Xena had the pleasure of starring as Caroline in the continental premiere of I and You by Lauren Gunderson at Vienna’s English Theatre.
Xena obtained her professional diploma in acting from Vienna’s English Theatre Academy (VETA), where she appeared in various productions, including A Monster Calls (Sully/Monster), and Medea (The Messenger/Kreusa).
Further credits include the Burgtheater’s 2018 production of Macbeth, performing as a member of the Vivid Voices choir, Egyptian television adverts, for which Xena recorded voice-overs in Arabic, and the short film Core (Neda). While living in Egypt, Xena also had the pleasure of performing in a French production of Around the World in Eighty Days at the Cairo Opera House.
