Martin Platt
Mr. Platt is co-director of the Perry Street Theatre in New York. In May 2006 he will be directing the premiere of Sallie Bingham’s Treason. His recent New York productions have been D.H. Lawrence’s The Daughter in Law, and the premiere of the musical Irrationals. In 2005 he directed and co-wrote the flamenco opera Don Juan Flamenco in Seville, as well as the new opera Cio Cio San in the U.S.
Mr. Platt was founding artistic director of the Alabama Shakespeare Festival and Santa Fe Stages. He has directed at most of the major U.S. theatres, as well as in London. He has also directed productions of La Traviata, Tosca, Die Entführung aus dem Serail, and La Tragédie de Carmen among other operas.
As a producer he is responsible for the world touring Gumboots, Here Lies Jenny and Shylock in New York, and Nixons Nixon and A Woman in Waiting in London. Mr. Platt is native of California, and lives in New York.
