Stephanie trained at the London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art.
She has worked extensively in theatre & TV throughout the UK & Ireland. Most recently seen in Russian Dolls at the Kings Head Theatre Islington, Stephanie’s other London theatre work includes Meg Dillon in The Hostage, Greta in The Carthaginians by Frank McGuinness, The York Realist, The Power of the Dog and Ten Times Table by Alan Ayckbourn (West End).
She was a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company, where her roles included Mistress Gallipot in The Roaring Girl and Dorinne in Tartuffe, which was filmed for television.
Stephanie has also played several seasons in repertory theatre, including Lily in The Freedom of the City (Liverpool Everyman), Kath in Entertaining Mr Sloane (Birmingham Rep), Amanda in The Glass Menagerie (Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch) and Says I Says He (Sheffield Crucible/Royal Court).
On television, Stephanie was most recently seen as Mrs Simmons in Doc Martin. She played Neil’s Gran in The Inbetweeners, Miss Rapley in Brides in the Bath, the Editor in A Very British Coup and Mavis in William Trevor’s August Saturday. She has also appeared in EastEnders, Dr Who, Holby City and Casualty.
Stephanie played Matilda in the Purcell/Dryden dramatic opera King Arthur at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris & the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. This experience engendered a love of opera and since that time she has collaborated with the conductor Laurence Cummings on numerous operas and oratorios.
