John is no stranger to Agatha Christie having played Paravicini in
The Mousetrap a record breaking 2,300 times at St.Martin’s Theatre and for a pioneering trip to Shanghai! Other West End appearances include
Sowerberry & Fagin at The Albery,
Dearly Beloved at The Aldwych, and Dr. Manette in a musical of
Tale of Two Cities at The Charing Cross Theatre directed by Paul Nicholas.
He recently played Robert in Mamet’s
A Life in the Theatre, filmed
Ms Guided Angel and voiced Charlie Chaplin in an animated feature. Last year he played Victor in
Barefoot in the Park for S.E.T. in France, created the role of Don in
The Company of Strangers at the Courtyard and played the Starkeeper in
Carousel at The Landor.
He has made over 100 radio broadcasts including Brutus in
Julius Caesar and the Sony award winning adaptation of
The Master & Margarita. He has played Dame in a number of pantomimes and appeared with Opera Restor’d and Opera Viva.
National tours include:
House of Ghosts with Colin Baker,
Cat on a Hot Tin Roof,
A Study in Scarlet,
Scrooge with Antony Newley and a European tour of
West Side Story. He was a founder member of The Southern Exchange Theatre Co. and has worked at The English Speaking Theatre in Hamburg, Pitlochry Festival Century Theatre Keswick, Manchester Library Theatre, Bristol Old Vic, Birmingham Rep., Theatre Royal York, Northcott Exeter, Theatre Clwyd, Chester, Cheltenham, Harrogate and Lancaster, where he played Quince in the 1
st & 10
th anniversary open air promenade productions of
A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
