Richard Hand

Don Pedro

Based in Manchester in the UK, Richard came to the theatre a little later in life than some having spent a decade working in what many would consider a ‘proper’ job in the print and design industry. His epiphanous moment came some eight years ago when he realised that not all actors were a special breed of person who were simply born into the craft but that it was possible to build a career in the theatre through passion, hard work and determination. At this point, he left his hometown of Derby to train at Manchester Metropolitan University’s School of Theatre, working with the likes of Complicite’s Marcello Magni, Voice and Alexander Coach, Trish Baillie and Opera and Theatre Director, Irina Brown.

Richard’s theatre credits include: Hard Times (Manchester’s Library Theatre), The BFG (Lancaster Dukes), No Fat Juliets (Lancaster Dukes / Oldham Coliseum), A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Macbeth (Liverpool Royal Court), Much Ado About Nothing and The Merchant of Venice (Demi-Paradise), Twelfth Night (Malkin Tower). His television credits include: Coronation Street and Emmerdale (ITV), Clone (BBC3), Hollyoaks (Channel 4/Lime Pictures). He also writes and performs sketch comedy as part of POPfART and is currently building material for a six-part sketch show intended for television.

Richard is delighted to be working with Vienna’s English Theatre and particularly excited to have the continued privilege of serving one of the greatest poets of our history, William Shakespeare, in one of his most popular comedies.
