Leisa Mather
Esther Franz
Leisa is thrilled to be making her debut at Vienna’s English Theatre. She first played Esther with Robert Prosky at Cape May Stage in New Jersey and has been in recent subsequent productions at The Walnut Street Theater in Philadelphia and Theater J in Washington DC. She is delighted to recreate the role once again in Vienna.
Leisa was born and raised in Melbourne, Australia. She has lived in London and Hamburg but finally found a home in the United States. After several years cutting her teeth in Chicago she moved to New York City and has lived there for over 8 years. Leisa has been seen as Grizabella in the Hamburg production of
Cats; Mother in the U.S. national tour of
Ragtime; Yelena in the Equity Library production of
Uncle Vanya and the world premiere of
The Visit at the Goodman Theater in Chicago with music and lyrics by Kander and Ebb, book by Terrence McNally and starring Chita Rivera.
Leisa is a long standing company member of Forbidden Broadway, a show which parodies and satirises Broadway stars and shows. In it she has performed off-Broadway and throughout the United States. Her favourite roles include Gwendolen in
The Importance of Being Earnest; Ghost of Christmas Past in
A Christmas Carol; Mrs. Pugh in
Undermilkwood; Adelaide in
Guys and Dolls and 13 male characters in
Around The World in 80 Days.
Thank you to Robert, Andy and all connected with the Vienna’s English Theatre for making this production possible.
