Gladys
Jocelyn was born in Oxfordshire and brought up in Zambia, Malawi and Zimbabwe.
She trained at the University of Cape Town Drama School. Her theatre credits in South Africa include: Dotty Ottley in
Noises Off (Arena Theatre Cape Town) Netta in
Loveborgs’ Women Considered by Woody Allen (Market Theatre, Johannesburg) Gwendolyn in
The Importance of Being Earnest (Little Theatre Cape Town) and The Mother in
Women Beware Women by Howard Barker (The Quad Capetown).
On moving to London Jocelyn landed the role of Maureen Johnson in the Broadway smash hit Musical
Rent ( Shaftesbury Theatre West End).
Her other theatre credits include: Judith in
Strange Kind of Hero (Bradford Alhambra/ Nottingham Theatre Royal),
Seasons of Love from
Rent (Royal Albert Hall, Palace Theatre and Cafe de Paris) and Sasouma Bareta in
Sunjata ( Royal Court Theatre). She was also a regular improvisor in ‘Off the Cuff’, at the Battersea Barge Theatre Cafe.
Her film credits include Yvette in
White Hunter Black Heart ( Warner Brothers). Susan in
How Far How Fast (Cannon Films/Crossfire SA). Jocelyn has also co-produced and acted in three short films,
Phyllis Bulls 5th Seance,
Charlize Angels and
The Wages of Sin, all of which were successfully chosen to be screened at the ‘Up & Over Down Under’ film festival at the Vue cinema in Fulham Broadway London.
She recently Played Donna Carlotta in
Sad Since Tuesday at Festival Y and ‘Escrita na Paisagem’ in Portugal with ‘tik tak
BOOM’, a physical theatre company she co -founded.
She teaches Ballet, Pilates and has just trained to teach Yoga in the Bahamas!
Jocelyn is very happy to be making her first appearance at Vienna’s English Theatre and is looking forward to exploring the beautiful city of Vienna.
