Roger is delighted to be returning to Vienna’s English Theatre where he was last seen in 2003 in the very popular production of
Quartet by Ronald Harwood. Previous productions include
I Ought to Be in Pictures,
Woman in Black, the Circle and
Boys in Autumn.
His UK credits include seasons with the National Theatre, Bristol Old Vic, Nottingham Playhouse and Sheffield Crucible in addition to appearing in London’s West End at The Garrick and The Cambridge Theatres.
In the
USA he was a co-founder of The GeVa theatre in upstate New York where he directed and acted in over fifty plays. His regional work in the
USA has taken him to the Alliance theatre in Atlanta, Milwaukee Rep, Buffalo Studio Arena, Portland Centre Stage, the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and the Stratford Festival in Canada playing roles as diverse as CS Lewis (
Shadowlands) Tom Sergeant (
Skylight) Author/Buks (
Valley Song), the Player (
R&G) and nearly everything in Ayckbourn! Among the many classical roles he has played Falstaff, Bottom, Claudius , Prospero and Caesar are his favourites. Most recently he has been playing Toby Belch at the Alabama Shakespeare Festival where he is an associate artist.
Roger has been Guest Artist and visiting Professor at Ohio University and Auburn University. His directing credits include productions of
King Lear and
The Seagull and more recently the hit comedy
Shear Madness. He is a current member of the audition panel at
RADA where he has also taught on the summer courses.
Next year he will be premiering his one man show
Falstaff directed by John Wood at National Arts Centre in Ottowa.
