Ray Dooley is pleased to make his debut at Vienna’s English Theatre and to be collaborating again with Martin Platt. Previous work with Mr. Platt includes Hamlet, Macbeth, Pericles, Bottom, Malvolio, as well as Astrov in
Uncle Vanya, Matamore in
The Illusion, and Lee in
True West. In New York Mr. Dooley has appeared on Broadway in
Macbeth with Nicol Williamson and in numerous Off-Broadway productions, including
Peer Gynt, for which he won a Village Voice
OBIE Award for Distinguished Performance.
Mr. Dooley has worked in theatres across the United States and in Canada. Highlights include the world premiere of Horton Foote’s
The Death of Papa with Matthew Broderick and Ellen Burstyn,
Death of a Salesman, with Judd Hirsch and Eva Marie Saint,
Cyrano de Bergerac with F. Murray Abraham, and
The Lark, with Nicol Williamson. Mr. Dooley is privileged to have had an ongoing collaboration with László Marton of the Vígszínház Theatre, Budapest, in works by Chekhov, Molière, and Molnár.
Mr. Dooley’s film and television work includes the feature film
Stonebrook, with Seth Green and Brad Rowe, and appearances on numerous American daytime dramas including
One Life to Live and
The Guiding Light.
While maintaining a distinguished professional career, Mr. Dooley serves as Professor of Dramatic Art and Director of the Professional Actor Training Program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
