Colin was born in York. His father was in the army so Colin grew up in army camps in Africa, Germany and up and down England. His exotic playgrounds were the Indian Ocean, Spandau Prison in Berlin and the Officer Cadet assault courses at Sandhurst. His idol was Alan Badel.

Theatre credits include various roles for the Royal Shakespeare Company: Macduff in Macbeth, Scarus in Anthony & Cleopatra, Yedibel in Zenobia, Duke of Florence and Levache in All’s Well That Ends Well and Count Terzky in The Death of Wallenstein. Colin has appeared as Mr Peacham in The Beggar’s Opera (Holland Park), Mario in Buddy Holly (National), Dennis in Outside Edge, Dad in Worm’s Eye View, Peter Willey in Out of Order (all Mill at Sonning), Oberon in A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Orange Tree), Doctor Gerrard in An Appointment With Death (Westcliffe), Gremio in The Taming of the Shrew (Stafford Gatehouse) and Banquo in Macbeth (Lyric, Edinburgh). The last theatre was as Brian Fawcett in Amazonia at the Bridewell Theatre, London in Spring 2004.

Film and television credits include The History of London, You Must Be the Husband, Pig in the Middle, In Sickness and in Health, Second Verdict, Jesus of Nazareth and Invitation to the Wedding.

He was heard on radio in over 400 productions for World Service and BBC Radio.
