David trained at the Webber Douglas Academy.

His theatre credits include seasons at Bolton, Durham, York, Basingstoke, Southampton and the Cherub Company. For the RSC he played Charles VI in Henry V, Egeon/Dr. Pinch in The Comedy of Errors, Sir Oliver Manext in As You Like It, Vigard in The Constant Couple, Cornwall in King Lear, Rosencrantz in Hamlet, Angelo in The Comedy of Errors.

He performed in Hamlet (Oxford Playhouse), The Clandestine Marriage (Bristol Old Vic), Romeo and Juliet (Chester Gateway), All my 50ns (Watford Palace), A Midsummer Night’s Dream (ACTER USA Tour), Twelfth Night, Othello, Henry Vand The Comedy of Errors (Newbury Watermill and International Tours).

His theatre credits in London include Down by the Greenwood Side (Donmar Warehouse), King Lear (Young Vic, also Leicester Haymarket), Caesar and Cleopatra (Greenwich Theatre) and Celaine (Hampstead Theatre). His television credits indude Eastenders, Casualty, So Haunt Me, Persuasion, Doctors, The nyverne Mystery, The Bill, Macbeth, All in the Game, Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased).

For the radio he recorded Manikudlak and the Bear and Into Exile. David appeared first at Vienna’s English Theatre in 1983 in Tonight at Eightwith Mary Martlew and Ruth Brinkmann.
