Alison began acting at Oxford University. For the Theatre in the Round at Scarborough she played lead roles in many Ayckbourn premieres: Just Between Ourselves, Joking Apart, Ten Times Table, Sisterly Feelings and Taking Steps. Other roles at that
theatre include Masha in The Seagull, Anna in Pinter’s Old Times and Elisabeth Procter in Miller’s Crucible.

In the West End her credits include Steaming, Little Lies and the Musical Judy, at the Greenwich Theatre The Corn Is Green and the British premiere of The Dining Room by A.R. Gurney Jr. She has toured American Universities playing Rosalind and many other roles in Shakespeare’s As You Like It, and Paulina and other roles in The Winters Tale.

Other theatre roles include: Catherine Petkoff in Arms and the Man, Lady Rumpers in Alan Bennett’s Habeas Corpus, Mrs Linde in A Dolls House, Andromache in Women of Troy, Elmire in Tartuffe, Eleanar in Passion Play by Peter Nichols, Mrs Conway in Time and the Conways and Lady Bellaston in Tom Jones.

Her television credits include Sherlock Holmes, Miss Marple (Nemesis), The Beiderbecke Affair, No Bananas, The Bill, Lovejoy, and regular characters in the series Head Over Heefs and Soldier Soldier, in which she was the C.O’s wife. Alison also works on radio, most particularly with writer/director Don Taylar, and writer Simon Brett.

Direction includes The Green Bay Tree (Wimbledon), Days of Cavafy (King’s Head) , The Guv’ Nor (Scarborough), and many productions at London Drama Schools, notably RADA, where she is on the Admissions Panel and frequently directs far the Summer Shakespeare School.
